A Little Coding Nostalgia

While going through some old boxes, I stumbled upon a few relics from my early days of programming: Java 5 and PHP 5 books. It’s amazing how these once-essential guides now feel like a snapshot from another era.

These books remind me of a time when coding was simpler in some ways but also more challenging. We didn’t have the modern tools and frameworks we take for granted today. Instead, we relied heavily on these physical manuals, flipping through pages to find the solution to a stubborn bug or to learn a new technique.

Seeing these books again brings back a wave of nostalgia. It’s a reminder of how far technology have come since those days. Yet, there’s a certain charm in the simplicity of that time, a period when learning something new felt like uncovering a treasure.

For those of us who’ve been in the game for a while, these old books are more than just paper and ink — they’re a part of our journey. And for the newer generation of developers, they’re a glimpse into a past where coding had a different rhythm.

As I flip through the pages, I can’t help but feel a little proud of the journey, both mine and the tech world’s. Here’s to the old days, and to how they’ve shaped what I am today.
